Have I read any good books lately? No, not really. Most recent read was "The Consumer Handbook on Tinnitus." I was hoping for a cure, but instead I got "There's nothing you can do about it, so try to think positive and distract yourself with other stuff." Great! Now, are you sorry you asked?
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Gave the aqua bead to my friend, Judy, yesterday. She was so delighted.

Hmmm...I don't have as much time to read as I'd like, but one really good book I read recently was "Food Matters" by Mark Bittman. In the beginning of the book, he discusses how the foods we choose affect our health and the environment. Then, he gives a number of recipes that incorporate the healthy-eating principles he discusses.

I read a lot, lot, lot of books. I love to read. I'm always carrying one or two books on my purse or my beading bag. Lately I'm reading my beading magazines, Glitter Baby by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Ramona's Adventures by Beverly Cleary, Cat O'Nine Tales by Jeffrey Archer, Creative Embellishments by Sherill Kahn and my law books. All at the same time. It's on my mood.

I am reading the 5th Horseman by James Patterson...already read 6th and 7th books in the series, as well as the earlier books....somehow missed this one. Light reading, but fun. Happiness!
ReplyDeleteJerrie Eckert
Beading and reading, my two most favorite things to do! Right now,I'm reading A Charmed Life, a memoir by Liza Campbell, the last child to be born in Cawdor Castle, the setting for Macbeth...Good reading!!
ReplyDeleteLaurie Jamieson
Ruff Love by Susan Garrett--a good book with a specific, positive program that helps the human develop leadership skills with their dog. It really works!
ReplyDeleteKaren Davito
Kim, what I've been reading lately are the Amelia Peabody stories - by Elizabeth Peters. Set in Egypt they are like a female Indiana Jones ! I love them ~ really exciting and she keeps you in suspense right till the end !!
ReplyDeleteAlso the Carole Nelson Douglas book, at the moment 'Cat with an Emerald Eye' sounds intriguing only on page 23 so far.....
Just finished "Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and "Such a Pretty Fat: by Jen Lancaster.
ReplyDeleteBoth were GREAT reads....
Right now I am finishing book #4 from The Saxon Tales, "Sword Song", by Bernard Cornwell and starting book #4 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, "Lover Awakened", by J.L. Ward. I will also be starting a fun read with "Moon Pies and Movie Stars" by Amy Wallen. It's about a good ole Texas momma and her family, so how can I say no to that lol! I usually read two or three books at time, always have.
ReplyDeleteI'll be drooling over your sale wares soon :).

I'm re-reading "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, and "Battlefield Earth" by L. Ron Hubbard, and "The Brothers Boswell" by Philip Baruth. Which book is in my hand depends on where I am in the house :)

I just finished reading "Replay" by Ken Grimwood. It is an older book form the 80's. He replays his life over and over and over....was very good!
ReplyDeleteI just read "Buckingham Palace Gardens" by Anne Perry. I am reading "The Chase" by Clive Cussler. I read constantly.

Last one was The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold; her books are rather dark but excellently written; next time I will read something a little more on the "light" side!
ReplyDeleteJan Bauman
I alternate between French and English books! On the English side, I am finishing "The World Without Us" by Alan Weisman (it shows what would happen if humans disappeared, how fast nature would get back to what it was before -- I don't know how scientifically correct this is, but it is certainly sobering!); next up will be "Through a Glass, Darkly" by Donna Leon (a murder-mystery from the Commissario Brunetti series set in Venice, Italy: my husband bought it for me because it starts with a murder in a glass factory in Murano: I hope no beadmaker is hurt, or I will not like this book....!) Francoise Brucel
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite books is The Anthropology of Turquoise by Ellen Meloy. Just read it once again. If you are a lover of words, colors, and those wide desert spaces, this book and author is a great find. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletePeggy Reynolds
Right now I'm reading Swann's Way by Marcel Proust. At 656 pages and translated from French, I figure it's good for me like vegetables are.
ReplyDeleteOops! I forgot my own name.
ReplyDeleteJoy Proper
I just finished two books - one by Susan Wigg and Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber. Good light reading. I'm working on an old one by Faye Kellerman ~ Stone Cold. I read to relax so nothing to heavy duty.
ReplyDeleteDebi McConnell
Read at night to relax - am re- reading an old friend, "Escape Velocity" by Christopher Stasheff. Also have bookmarks in "An Artist's Way" and "Steps to Independence"....
ReplyDeleteI read your blog daily because we share interests, and you always keep it up there, positive and life affirming.

Unfortunately, I do not have time to read books, just the necessary stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love everything you do!

While I love any good, escapist story, right now I'm slogging through House of Bush House of Saud. I recently couldn't put down Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, your adventure is moving along quickly...hope it turns out to be all you envision. I am currently reading 48 Days to the work you Love. Since my whole life is in transition it seems like a good time to reassess.

I am reading the series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency -- I am on the 4th book now -- it is such a delightful series, lot's of fun and takes place in Botswana. My co-worker who is originally from South Africa turned me on to this series and now they have it on HBO. I highly recommend it for a nice light read and some escapism.
ReplyDeleteChristine Wilson
I recently finished People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks, which I liked very much. Right now I'm reading Tree of Smoke by Dennis Johnson.
ReplyDeleteKaren Solliday
